Guide: Navy Federal lost card
If you have lost your Navy Federal credit or debit card, there are some steps you are required to follow based on the situation.
1. Temporarily disable your card
You can easily disable or freeze your card with the help of the Navy Federal app. You can always freeze your card if it is lost, and you can make sure you can find it in a known place.
Freezing means temporarily disabling the card. You can lift the freeze if you find your Navy Federal debit or credit card again and freeze it as many times as you want.
If you are new to the NFCU‘s app or don’t know how to freeze the card, you can follow the steps below for assistance.
Step 1 – Open NFCU’s official app
First of all, you must download the Navy Federal app if you do not have it installed on your mobile device. The app is available for free on both Android and iOS devices.
Open the app and log in with your details and proceed with the next step when done.
Step 2 – Select the card
Now that you have logged in with your account, you will find yourself on the homepage of the app. Here, you need to go to the ‘Accounts’ section.
See at the bottom of the page, and the Accounts section is at the very left of all the tabs, right next to the ‘Transfers’ tab.
In the Accounts tab, you will be shown a list of all debit and credit cards that have been linked with your account. Here, you are required to select the account associated with the card that you want to freeze.
Select the card and proceed with the next step.
Step 3 – Select Manage Card
Now, after you select the account associated with the card, you will find many more options on the page.
Here, you need to select the ‘Manage Card’ option. The one with the gear and card icon.
Step 4 – Toggle Freeze Card
And that’s pretty much it. On selecting the option to manage the card, you will see some more related options.
Here, select the ‘Freeze Card’ option, and you will see ‘On’ written right next to the card, which indicates that the card is currently disabled.
You can Unfreeze the card by following the same steps.
2. Report Unauthorized Transactions
Well, if your card is temporarily lost, or you are sure you will be able to find it, then freezing the card is an appropriate option. But, what if you observed a transaction that you never authorized?
It is quite possible that the card has been used when you lost its access. In that case, you can always report the unauthorized transaction even if you have found your card.
You can visit the official NFCU page link for reporting unauthorized transactions.
If you only have access to the NFCU’s app, you can go to the ‘Manage Card’ option after selecting the account associated with your lost card in the ‘Accounts’ section. There, you will see the ‘Report Fraud’ option. Select it and submit the required information.
3. Report stolen card
Now you know the required to be taken when your card is lost. What happens if your card has been stolen?
Well, first of all, we will suggest you confirm if your card has been stolen. Try finding your card in your wallet or ask your family member if they have seen it. The procedure of reporting a stolen card takes effort, so be sure if you really need to do that.
